<image:caption>Thanks for taking the time to stop by. I am Kimbelle Pease, an author of Jane Austen Fan Fiction (JAFF). I hope to afford my readers with a small escape as they immerse themselves in my stories. Above all, I write with the intention of putting a smile on my readers’ faces. On this site you’ll find what’s new, a bit about me, and a blog/community forum where we can discuss what we love (or don’t love) about JAFF with respect to my books.</image:caption>

<image:title>Twelve Dates with Gentleman Friends - Twelve Dates with Gentlemen Friends</image:title>
<image:caption>In this reimagining, Jane, Elizabeth, and Mary Baker, along with their dear friend Charlotte Perth, who are named after daughters depicted in Jane Austen’s novel Pride and Prejudice, work at a suburban middle school. While their lives are fulfilling, these self-proclaimed wallflowers are looking for a little joie de vivre. Elizabeth is challenged with the task of forcing them out of their ordinary, single-gal routines for the summer. An idea sparks when Elizabeth again sees William Darcy Godfrey behind her in line at the coffee shop, and unbeknownst to her, she sets her group of girls up with four of New York society’s most eligible bachelors for twelve dates. The women intend to use this opportunity to overcome their most hard-to-break habits, seemingly inherited from the characters for whom they were named. The men, feeling the ticking of their own biological clocks, are hoping these ladies are the ones they have been searching for. Will our quartet of women take a chance on love that they believed was only to be found in books, or will they let it pass them by? One warning, two cautions, and two notes: WARNING: The characters of Pride and Prejudice found within this tale are not without some of the traits of those in canon yet have modern concerns. Many of these preoccupations, too, are not unlike those that beleaguered our heroines of yore. Their hearts long for the kind of love their namesakes also sought in The Novel, but they know that life is not a fairytale. CAUTION: While writing the group chat/text messages in this reimagining, I took the liberty of adding punctuation to close their texts despite my daughter’s assurances that no one cares about punctuation anymore (oh, the horror). There is ample proof that this is definitely NOT the case for the current generation of JAFF readers. CAUTION: As this is a modern reimagining, profanity is not so sparingly used by either the ladies or the gentlemen. Given the circumstances of their lives, however, all of the characters often work around the more profane words. NOTE from the author: This book has a detailed setup and a plethora of conversations, with the hope that those who enjoy modern JAFF feel like Elizabeth and Darcy are only a text away. NOTE from the author: This reimagining is not a tale that would happen to just anybody. It is fictional and fantastical in nature, but is, perhaps, slightly more plausible than the tale of the daughter of a minor country squire being twice proposed to by a man at the highest levels of society in the Regency era.</image:caption>

<image:title>Something New to Observe - Something New to Observe</image:title>
<image:caption>This vagary proposes an alternate telling of the original Pride and Prejudice and considers what may have happened should the characters have been afforded a slightly altered set of circumstances. What if Mr. Darcy had accepted quite early that he was falling in love with Elizabeth? What if Elizabeth was the least stubborn of her sisters? What if Mrs. Bennet was allowed to settle in mind and spirit? What if Mr. Bennet exerted himself on behalf of his daughters? What if Mr. Collins was in some way welcomed as the next owner of the estate? Those are only some of the twists within this tale, and while not canon, I hope I gave your favorite character a moment unto themselves that will make you smile. One warning, two cautions, and a note: WARNING: In deference to a truth universally acknowledged that men do not behave the same when no women are present as they do in mixed company, this vagary does have the occasional use of profanity. The men in my life would consider it amusing but naïve to afford the same semantics of conversation for wholly different circumstances such as these, or they would, should one of them choose to read it. CAUTION: I want to specifically state that this vagary is not for all Pride and Prejudice genre readers. If one reads to find fault in what is not canon, I’ve been most forthcoming about the fact that it is a vagary, so you should already be on your guard and perhaps pass it by. For those of you who are strict authoress-guidelines conscious, I will argue that in all time periods people spoke with the use of contractions. To that end, I was true to life rather than follow her pointed non-use of them. Outside conversation, however, you will not find them, and I hope that soothes any feathers that may be ruffled at such a bold defiance. CAUTION: My editor also requested that I issue a point of clarification on her behalf. I confess that as an author em-dashes drive me nanabas, so contrary to her excellent advice, I did not include many of them where she said they should be. Despise me for it if you must, but no novel, story, prose, or verse ever hinged on one’s use. The omission of a comma, however, has cost millions. I promise that for those, I let her fully guide me. NOTE: My personal pleasure in writing this book was the intent to make any who read it find themselves staying up at night; not because ODCs are near death, have been forced to do that which they despise, or are off chasing Lydia again, but because I believe I am not the only one of us who dearly loves to laugh.</image:caption>

<image:title>The Formation of Just Such a Plan - The Formation of Just Such a Plan</image:title>
<image:caption>One warning, two cautions, and two notes: WARNING: Portions of this book focus on some of George Wickham’s worst crimes against young ladies. While the revenge taken is not fully or graphically detailed, it is extreme. “He had certainly formed such a plan, and without meaning that it should effect his endeavour to separate him from Miss Bennet, it is probable that it might add something to his lively concern for the welfare of his friend.” Pride & Prejudice, chapter 45 This vagary proposes an alternate path for the characters of Pride and Prejudice. Some character aspects are embellished, and longstanding plans change, fail, or are realized and perhaps regretted in this fanciful twist. Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy’s plan to avoid being compromised by Miss Caroline Bingley leads to an unexpected friendship with Miss Elizabeth Bennet. In this tale, the two of them work together on one plan to help his sister and on another, which with the aid of his friend Mr. Charles Bingley and her elder sister Jane, will assist her family in correcting some of their most embarrassing behaviors. The plan, if brilliant in its execution, has results that are beyond any they could have imagined. After Mr. Darcy dashes her plans to become the next mistress of Pemberley, Miss Bingley chooses to leave Netherfield, take her mother’s maiden name of Northwood and control of her dowry, and returns to town. What machinations will she resort to in order to force Mr. Darcy to marry her? Miss Mary Bennet, at her sisters’ encouragement, devises a plan of her own to win the future she wants for herself. Sent by his mother to Meryton in order to assist his cousin, to what lengths will Colonel Fitzwilliam go in order to persuade Miss Charlotte Lucas that she is exactly the woman he has been searching for? And which plans of that scoundrel George Wickham's can be thwarted using the infamous gossip chain of Meryton, and to what measures will he resort if they succeed? CAUTION: This vagary does have some uses of profanity. In defense of Mrs. Bennet, however, sometimes an indolent husband needs to be told to get off his arse. CAUTION: For those who are on Team Richard, I do hope you enjoy him in this tale as much as I have. For those of you who prefer to look at Darcy as the man above all men, I preemptively apologize. While an almost perfectly proper gentleman who makes a decision or acts on a plan only after considering all angles, a situation sometimes requires a man whose strengths include quick, strategic action. NOTE from the author: The whole of the book takes place between Jane and Elizabeth’s sojourn at Netherfield and the ball. I confess that I find the journey to the courtship or altar, whichever comes first, the most exciting part of a variation/vagary/retelling. The original novel, and the movies derived from it, end quite quickly after all pertinent parties have chosen their partner for their HEA. So, too, do I hope that when this tale ends, there is no doubt that they will ever after be happy. NOTE from the author: Readers may notice what would be considered an improper use of capitalization when referring to members of the militia throughout this novel. These capitalizations were not made in error, they simply demonstrate respect for the rank earned by the characters portrayed in this novel, a form of deference and respect that could not be overlooked by the author.</image:caption>

<image:title>Love by Turns - Love by Turns</image:title>
<image:caption>This vagary proposes an alternate perspective for Mr. William Collins, the parson of Hunsford Parsonage in Kent, who has been charged with two missions by his patroness, the estimable Mistress of Rosings Park. He arrives on the doorstep of Longbourn with the principle wish to heal a long-standing breach in the family. While endeavoring to right past wrongs, he must also find a suitable companion from amongst his cousins of whom his patroness might approve. As the heir to Longbourn, Mr. Collins is very aware that these tasks will not be easily accomplished. Join Mr. Collins as his family discovers that he is not the dreaded cousin everyone assumes but is a man of conviction with whom one can share their burdens. He may even surprise you as you witness his temerity when he encounters the respectable Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy of Pemberley who himself is in Meryton to complete a task of his own making: to fulfill a promise to aid his close friend Mr. Bingley who has leased a property in Hertfordshire. And what might happen when these gentlemen, who seemingly have little in common, find themselves willing to do all in their power to aid the ladies they admire? One warning, a caution, and two notes WARNING: This novella touches upon specific afflictions one may encounter when aging. In this tale, these scenes are equally difficult for the one who is aging and those who love them. CAUTION: This novella contains a Mr. Collins who is a rather likeable fellow. NOTE from the author: The whole of the novella takes place between the time Mr. Collins arrives at Longbourn and the following Easter when both Darcy and Elizabeth visit Kent. It is not in line with canon, nor is it always within the dictates of the proprieties at the time, but it was fun to write and, hopefully, will be an enjoyable tale to read. NOTE from the author: Readers may notice what would be considered an improper use of capitalization when referring to members of the militia throughout this novel. These capitalizations were not made in error but simply demonstrate respect for the rank earned by the characters portrayed in this novel, a form of deference and respect that could not be overlooked by the author.</image:caption>
